Most people seem to have been on one diet or another for the better part of their adult lives, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is no exception. The difference is that unlike the rest of us mere mortals, the WWE superstar-turned movie star follows an eating regime that includes roughly 10 pounds of food and 5,165 calories per day. Recently, Johnson shared the details of his daily intake and workouts with Muscle and Fitness, and it's impressive (if a bit alarming) exactly how much this man can put away — just ask Sean Evans, a writer from Complex magazine, who tried to duplicate The Rock's diet for just 24 hours.
With a copy of Johnson's entire daily diet in hand, Evans set out to eat seven high-protein meals, but please keep in mind, we're not talking about one or two chicken breasts, here. According to the plan, the San Andreas star downs 36 ounces of cod, eight ounces of chicken, eight ounces of steak, 30 grams casein protein (whatever that is), two whole eggs plus one 10-egg-white omelet, six cups of rice, 12 ounces of sweet potato, 12 ounces of baked potato, four cups of veggies, two cups of oatmeal, and two whole salads each day. Oh, also, he adds two tablespoons of fish oil to wash it all down.
Making Evans's challenge even harder, however, was the unfortunate fact that the writer has an intense aversion to cod, which The Rock eats a mere three pounds of per day. Oops. Evans choked down a few meals before his body (and willpower) gave out and he started vomiting. Still, though, he didn't walk away from his failure empty-handed. He finished with a newfound appreciation for the 300-pound real-life action hero — and also, quite possibly, a new friend.
See Sean Evans in action (but — warning — some language is NSFW):
"I respect The Rock," Evans stated after he'd recovered from all that cod. "What if you had the money that he has and the success that he has, right? Like, would you be waking up at four o'clock in the morning and just shredding legs and just eating this meathead food around the clock, every two hours? Respect the hell out of it, man. Respect the hell out of Dwayne Johnson."
It seems Johnson has equal respect for the writer. "Sean that was f--king phenomenal. Well done my man. Very entertaining - had us all rollin' on set. Let's go back to reg food," he tweeted.
The Fast & Furious mainstay then followed this up with some thoughts on how Evans could improve his results (in case he ever feels like taking another stab at eating three pounds of fish and not barfing in a bathroom stall). "Awesome and f'n hilarious. Missing element was being on your feet shootin' for 14hrs a day," Johnson opined. "Then you'd crush it bud."

Not for nothing, Johnson has been on this intense diet for years now. Back in April 2013 when he was promoting the summer flick Pain and Gain, the star summed up his daily intake as "60 grams of protein per meal, seven times a day." That's 420 grams of protein on the daily, just to be clear. "I have carbs with every meal, so there's always a balance of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats," Johnson explained to the Sun Sentinel before adding, "My breakfast, for this particular role, was a 10-ounce filet mignon. Red meat. With two whole eggs and two cups of oatmeal." (Too bad Evans didn't try his diet back then.)
In June 2013, as he was preparing to shoot Hercules, Johnson offered a glimpse into his refrigerator, stocked to the gills with pre-made meals:
